Back to MAC

Has anyone ever done the back to MAC program? I have to admit I never knew you could do this until about a week ago. I was wondering why all the boxes say back to MAC on them, so I googled it and found a page on MACs website which says that if you keep 6 empty containers and take them back to a MAC store (you can post them back in the US but not here) you can choose any free lipstick (but not limited editions like Viva Glam). Here is more in depth info - http://www.maccosmetics.co.uk/customer_service/services.tmpl

It's a pretty good incentive. I have one empty so far :)

More Spot Shennanigans!

Good evening girls!

I wasn't going to blog today but I'm seriously breaking out so while I was in the bath I thought I'd review a couple of the products I was using.

As mentioned in one of my previous posts I get awful spots they're like lumps under the skin, I've been getting them for years and I'm 25 now! I went to the Dr's a couple of months ago and he gave me some tablets and I had a MASSIVE allergic reaction to them. It made my skin itchy and when I scratched it I got big welts (bit raised lumps when you've scratched) not nice! So I'm back to square 1 really and just trying to look after my skin and drink as much water as I can.

Tonight I put on a Deep Cleansing Mud Mask from Superdrug, I can't remember how much it was think it was about 99p.

It has a thick green texture and a nice refreshing smell to it. Here is a scary pic of me wearing the mask so you can see the colour and consistency of it. I probably look a bit odd because I haven't added it to my whole face, I do this because I only feel like I need it on the bad areas and I don't want to dry my cheeks out too much and it also means it will last longer because I'm not using as much!
Lush, not lol! This is a really nice product and has been really good value because it's lasted ages. I do prefer the MUDD masks but this does help when I'm having a skin crisis like today!

Here's an example of the lumps under my skin, I know it's not very pretty I'm sorry!! But I'm just interested to hear if anyone else out there has the same kind of spots because I don't know anyone?

I've spent more time putting pictures up of me with no makeup on that with makeup on haha but I promise some make up one's will be coming, don't want any more horrible pics up now!

The next product I want to mention is these Spot Reducer Gel Patches by Purederm which I picked up in Aldi when I was getting my fruit and veg.

I have one thing to say about these, DO NOT buy them. Seriously, just don't! I got them because I thought they were going to be the same as the one's Montagne Jeunesse used to do called Spot Dots. So I was thinking great, definately going to get some of those. What you do is put them directly on the spot and then go to bed and it does improve the spot a little overnight (well the montagne jeunesse one's do anyway) The problem with these Purederm one's is you put them on and they slide all over and do not stick properly to your skin....complete rubbish! I will use the packet up but I won't be buying them again.

Montagne Jeunesse PLEASE bring back spot dots! Didn't know this till today buy you can buy products from their website - http://www.montagnejeunesse.com/

Hope everyone is having a good week so far.

Zinc to help acne

Evening everyone!

I just wanted to share a tip that I find helps me ALOT! For those of you who suffer with really bad skin like me I find that if I take Zinc vitamin tablets I really notice the difference in my skin and I get a lot less spots.
At the moment I'm just taking Tesco one's but my favourite type is the Holland & Barrett high strength one's.
Anyone else take Zinc and find that it helps your skin?

Yankee Candles - Halloween!

This month I am loving Yankee Candles! I got 2 Halloween themed one's for October from http://www.scentedcandleshop.com/ - I was really impressed with this shop, the order came really fast and you get rewards points for everything you buy too! (I think it's 2 points per £1)

The candles I got were Pumpkin Patch and Witches Brew. My favourite is Witches Brew it is scented with Patchoulli and really does make me think of a witches brew, it almost smells magical!

I'm going to buy some Christmassy one's once I've used these, I can't wait! :)

I've been watching the X Factor tonight while burning these and I was surprised at what happened with Cher at the judges houses, I wonder if she get's through tomorrow. What do you all think?

Maybelline 24hr Superstay Foundation & FOTD

Hello again! I'm trying to catch up as it's taken me so long to get round to these!

As promised here is my review of the Maybelline 24hr Superstay foundation and kind of my FOTD too...though I was a bit rushed towards the end as I was late for getting to work so after I'd done my foundation I just slapped the rest on!

The shade I've got is the lightest shade they had which is 005 Light Beige. Here's a swatch and a pic of the bottle.

Here is my skin when I have put the foundation on all over - I sometimes like to block my lips out too as it's a good base to put lipsticks on. I put it on with a foundation brush from The Body Shop (one eye is a bit bloodshot because I poked myself in the eye with the brush by accident ha!) As you can see the coverage is quite good but you can still see some of my spots and acne scars.

Here is some pics after I've added the rest of my make-up.

The main things I've got on:
- MAC prep + prime SPF50
- The Body Shop All Over Face Powder - 02 (where is 01, why does it start at 02!!?)
- Clinique High Impact Mascara
- MAC Blusher - Dame
- Rimmel Lipstick - Nude Praline
- MAC Lustreglass - Love Nectar

This is a good foundation for £8.99 that has SPF15 in which you can get from boots/superdrug in the UK but it definitely doesn't last 24hrs! I put it on for work and by about mid day I had some shine so I had to use blotting paper but it still looked pretty good at the end of the day. It isn't the best foundation I've ever used but I would definitely say it's a good drugstore buy. I will carry on using this as an in between foundation. I am putting an order in with MAC soon so I'll be doing a haul on that but I am waiting for them to release the Disney Venomous Villains Collection first (very patiently I might add!) before I do the order so I'm getting a new foundation from there. I will use the Maybelline foundation until I get my new one.

Skincare Routine

Hello! It's taken me a lot longer to do this than I wanted it to. Had a couple of rubbish things happen over the last few weeks but hopefully it's all sorted now.

So, I wanted to talk about my skincare routine at the moment and I'm going to be really brave and put up a picture of my skin with no make-up on at all eek! I wanted to do this because I don't know anyone with skin as bad as mine and it doesn't even look too bad on this photo, sometimes it's much worse! I would love to hear from any of you that suffers from problem skin and what you do to try and battle the spots! Anyway, here goes...

As you can see, it's pretty bad! I have lots of acne scarring as well as spots, I don't really have any in this photo but I get big lumps under my skin which I think is cystic acne (not sure) which are really painful and take ages to go away. As well as the spots I'm really pale and I always think my skin is really dull and almost grey and I have black circles under my eyes. I'm really not sure why because I drink 2 litres of water a day, I eat plenty of fruit and veg and I try to look after my skin. Maybe it's hormonal? Does anyone else have these problems despite looking after yourself?

So for the last month or so I have been using Clinique's 3 Step System. Step one is the Facial Soap - I use the oily skin formula. Step 2 is the Clarifying Lotion which is a toner - I've got number 3 which is combination to oily. There is a number 4 which is for very oily skin, and while I do think I'm very oily I do have some dry areas as well so I thought I'd better go for the combination. (For those of you with dry skins there is also a range available to cater for dry skins too) Step 3 is the Dramatically Different Moisturising Gel (the dry skin range has a cream instead).

I use these 3 steps twice a day, morning and night, so what do I think of it so far? My verdict is that I really like it and I would definitely purchase it again but that it isn't a miracle worker. I really enjoy using it and I look forward to washing my face. It makes my skin feel lovely, but it hasn't stopped me from getting spots it has just improved them. My spots haven't been as big as they normally are but I still have to use spot creams to try and keep them at bay!
If you are thinking about giving this range a try I would definitely recommend giving it go. You get quite a lot of product for your money so it is good value. The soap is 200ml, the toner is 400ml and the moisturiser is 125ml. Let me know if you have tried this and what you thought about it.

Hello!

Hi guys,

Well this is my first post, it’s not a review or anything yet it’s just really to introduce myself and so there’s something up here on the site too!

My name is Zoe, and I love anything beauty related…i love fashion too but I would say I definately have a thing for beauty products Now, one of the reasons I wanted to start this blog is because if any of you are anything like me then you are always on the lookout for those amazing must have beauty products that actually work and do wonders! I’m going to be letting you know what I think of the products that I use and hopefully it will give you a good idea of whether they’re any good or not!

Now, the reason I called this blog Real Girls Beauty is because it is just that, I’m just your average girl. I have bad skin. I’m pale and my hair is terrible unless I spend time making it look nice so I’m always on the lookout for products to make it all that bit easier! I’ve recently been watching a lot of the You Tube beauty vlogs and everyone seems to have perfect skin (or much better than mine anyway!) So hopefully you will find my reviews helpful in some way or other. Doing a written blog seems a bit outdated now but I don’t think I’d feel comfortable enough to do vlogs, we’ll see how it goes!

So, coming up soon I will be doing a review on Maybelline’s 24hr superstay foundation – I think 24hrs is a bit of a big claim so I will let you know! I bought this today to get me by until I have money to buy some Laura Mercier foundation so I will be doing a review on that some time soon too. The second thing I’m going to be reviewing is the Clinique 3 Step System but I think I’ll wait a few weeks for this one because I’d like to see how my skin reacts to it first.

So that’s it for now, I will get that review up as soon as I can.

Oh, on a seperate note…I went to watch The Runaways yesterday and I thought it was brilliant, much better than I expected. The clothes were awesome! You should go see :)
